Drawing is structured for anyone who always wanted to learn how to draw but never had the opportunity to do so, until now. This is an in-depth course based on
observation drawing
with
10 classes
total, meeting
once a week
for
3 hours
, working towards the goal of understanding how to translate 3-Dimensional objects and space onto a 2-Dimensional surface. Please note that this course focuses on the understanding light, volume and the proper handling of drawing medium.

$300 per 3-hour class

All materials needed will be supplied (including high quality drawing paper, charcoal, conte, kneaded erasers etc)

GENERAL GOALS OF BEGINNER'S DRAWING: (Black and White Course - graphite, charcoal)
Contour Line Drawing
Understanding how to draw in proportion (perceptual grid)
Positive Negative Space
Additive and Subtractive Value Drawing
Perspective Drawing (1, 2 and 3pt)
GENERAL GOALS OF ADVANCED DRAWING/ILLUSTRATION DRAWING: (pen and ink, chalk pastels, coloured pencils, acrylic paint)
Learning how to make a drawing look more photo-realistic using different techniques
Emphasis on structure and light
Planar structure and facial proportions
Using wet and dry media
Cropping, understanding undertone colours
Working in full colour (chalk pastels and coloured pencils) and using different tone colour paper
Please note that for Advanced Drawing, students will either purchase or bring their own chalk pastels and coloured pencils.
